I call it my Friday Late Night because I got a late start, I was under the weather for most of the day yesterday and of course got Madison to bed later than I wanted. I have lots of things I've been wanting to work on and once I sat down to start on my project I couldn't decide which one to tackle. I knew I wanted to do a bag of some kind. So I decided to go with my most recent idea of a purse I wanted to copy. I have this faux leather bag I really like, but lately I like carrying something handmade as much as I can. Not to mention sometimes when I get working on a project I sometimes get to where I want to finish it no matter what the time even though it was 4am! I guess I get a little crazy with my projects sometimes. It also made it interesting because it wasn't from a pattern or anything just ideas in my head, I had to change some things or modify my ideas or make a new idea if I goofed and did not want to fix it! I did have fun and glad I had a chance to just sit down and work on a project; I should do it more often! :) So, without further ado; here are the pictures of my purse!

the bag on the right is what I was inspired from b/c
after all was said and done; I did not make a copy! :)

bag laid out

inside of the bag; I was going to do a zipper
but decided to use my magnetic clasps instead :)
close up of the handle; I had some difficulty with it because my first handle was too thin but
the one I went with was too wide and
I didn't want to just fold it over and
ended up making it like that on accident and
I like how it turned out because it's different!
So, let me know what you think; leave comments! I would love some comments and I will try to get more pictures of my projects up soon; as well as some of the projects I will be working on after next week. I wasn't able to do my shopping this weekend but will get it next week. Stay tuned! :)

4AM, wow....great purse! Had fun with my first Sew-In!
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley, You have "no reply" for your email, so I thought I would just answer your question back here. Mia, my GD, was 6 1/2 or 7 when I first started letting her sew some squares together (which turned out to be a doll quilt). She sat on my lap and I helped guide the pieces with her. Her attention span then was very limited. We just gradually worked up to her actually doing the sewing. Taking a couple of kids classes at our LQS really helped a lot....they have more patience then me sometimes. ;o) Maybe the 8 year old is ready...have fun!
